Eye See Eye Learn is a FREE program that provides OHIP insured eye exams and free eyeglasses (if required) to Junior Kindergarten children, in partnership with our local school boards. (Niagara Catholic School Board and the District School Board of Niagara)
This is a public health awareness program that emphasizes the early detection of vision problems. The incidents of vision related problems can be seen in 1 in 6 children, and still many children have never had their eyes examined. This is a scary thought when you consider that almost 80% of classroom learning is done through the eyes. Unfortunately, children rarely complain about their vision problems or are even aware of them. Sadly, children with poor vision often find it difficult to focus on their work and may even be misdiagnosed as having a learning or behaviourally disability.
